The economy of the Boonah Shire is essentially rural based but a number of innovative light industries have established in the area principally because of its proximity to Brisbane and the Gold Coast while offering all the benefits of a rural lifestyle. Tourism is becoming more and more a focus of the Shire due to the increasing popularity of natural attractions such as Lake Maroon and Moogerah and all the bush walking and sightseeing opportunities offered by the World Heritage listed National Parks within the Great Dividing Range which forms the Shire's western border. The Shire is located in the Fassifern Valley and is within south east Queensland's biggest growth corridor and is a leisurely hour and a half drive from Brisbane or the Gold Coast. The Boonah Fassifern Guardian has been part of the community since Federation and continues to be an effective and representative voice on local issues, events and initiatives.
The Boonah Fassifern Guardian is circulated throughout the Boonah Shire and surrounding rural districts from west of Ipswich, south to the border and north to Rosevale and Warrill View. This circulation area includes the towns of Aratula, Beaudesert, Boonah, Harrisville, Kalbar, Moogerah Dam, Mt Alford, Peak Crossing, Roadvale, Warnll View and Yamanto.
