    East Gippsland is a diverse geographical area, bordered to the north-east by mountains and to the south by the sea and extensive Gippsland lakes system. With a population of approximately 38,000 people, it is a predominately rural area; featuring cattle and sheep farming and commercial vegetable growing and processing. Forestry is also another established industry as is the multi-million dollar fishing industry.
